Cinderella, 2019
‘What if Cinderella had an attitude problem?’
Year 12 VCE Art Project
Cinderella, 2019 is an art-based fashion project that reinterprets the bridal and Cinderella archetypes through disruption and feminist rebellion. Red markings and thread stain the traditional white wedding dress, symbolising blood, and resistance while questioning the ideal of the classic fairytale. The work asks: “What if Cinderella had an attitude problem?”
By destabilising the bridal archetype, the piece challenges patriarchal narratives embedded within fairytale representations of femininity.
